CHECK ENGINE LIGHT aka MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL)

This yellow or red warning dash indicator is part of your vehicle’s onboard diagnostics (OBD) system. Referred to as the "Check engine" light, "service engine soon" light, malfunction indicator lamp or just a picture of an engine, (International Check Engine Symbol) on your dash.  The light illuminates when the computer finds a problem in the electronic-control system that it cannot correct, the computer then stores a standardized "trouble code" in its memory to identify the source of the problem, such as a malfunctioning sensor or a misfiring engine, and indicates that attention is required. The trouble code is read and cleared using an OBDII electronic scan tool or a diagnostic computer.

A good generic OBDII scan tool costs approximately $200-$600 and works on all cars sold in the United States of America.

The manufacturer determines a factory tools cost but they run in the $5000-$15,000.00 range and most require an annual subscription fee to keep the tool up to date.

 

So why do we charge a different rate when we scan you car with these tools simple cost and quality.

 

It also allows us to provide you with dealer level services at a lower cost. Loose a key no problem we can program it, need an air bag replaced we are your guys, that new navigation system you bought on eBay wont work we can code it.

 

In short, our goal is to provide you and your car with the best service possible and yes that does mean we charge a small fee for it but in most cases it saves time and trouble in the end, what is your time worth.
